The fall colors are great on the North Shore! In Cook County, the colors are at 50-75% according to the MN Fall Color Finder. The North Shore Visitor lists out three great fall color drives on backroads for you to explore. One from Two Harbors to Tettegouche, one around Lutsen and one around Grand Marais.
